A Clinical Experience of using Trimebutine on the Gastrointestinal Diseases

Abstract
|
|
|
The effectiveness of Trimebutine wer studied in 20 cases of chronic gastritis and 20 cases of irritable bowel syndrome which had been diagnosed clinically from April to May, 1981 at the Department of Internal Medicine of Busan National University Hospital.
The results were as follows:
1. Of the 51 cases with the clinical manifestations of chronic gastritis, 17 cases (33%) and 25 cases (49%) showed fair and good responses, respectively, which showed significantly higher responses than the placebo group. (p<0.001)
2. Of the 54 cases with clinical manifestations of irritable bowel syndrome, 16 cases (26%) and 27 cases (50%) showed fair and good responses, respectively, which were also significantly higher than the placebo group. (p<0.001)
3. Side effects of Trimebutine were noted in 6 cases of 40 patients received the drug, most of which were mild and transient.
4. The laboratory findings revealed no abnormalities after administration of the drug, compared to those checked before medication.
